No thank you, I don’t need penis enlargement

PerformancingAdsOne of my hosting clients was recently shocked to discover an advertisement for penis enlargement on her blog (I won’t show it to you, because I don’t want to give them any more exposure)! Considering most of her readers are women, she didn’t think it an appropriate use of her screen real-estate (’nuff said). The offensive ad was being displayed in one of the 125×125 blocks in her sidebar (similar to the blocks in my own sidebar), which is governed by an ad network called PerformancingAds. Stumble your way to a Rush of traffic

Following on from my last post on Social Bookmarking, I’d like to talk today a bit about one of my favourite Social Bookmarking sites – StumbleUpon. Apart from the usual system of content submission and being able to vote items up and down, StumbleUpon has one fairly unique feature: its toolbar, and in particular the Stumble button.

Increase traffic to your blog with Social Bookmarking

Have you ever felt like you’re talking but no-one’s listening? I’m sure that’s something most bloggers can relate to (even A-list bloggers like Darren Rowse), especially when you’re in the initial stages of developing a blog. One way to increase your exposure is through the use of so-called Social Bookmarking sites like Digg, Delicious, Stumbleupon, and many others.

How to widen the sidebar in WordPress K2

I was recently asked by one of my clients to widen the sidebar on her K2-themed WordPress blog. Initially I thought this might be tricky as it would involve tweaking the theme’s template files. But once I started, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was not at all difficult – all that was required was altering a couple of settings in the site’s CSS. And the best part was that I didn’t have to modify any of the theme’s files – this of course makes it much easier to upgrade the theme in the future.
